  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Kill Devil Hills restaurants and activities.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses.   • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
