Tricks and tips to get the optimal Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Book your Kill Devil Hills rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Bright And Cozy Two Room Unit, Close To Beach And Sound -- Perfect For Two! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
