Money saving strategies:
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. - Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.

Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review.
