Located in the heart of Kill Devil Hills, your family will be close to everything when you stay at this centrally-located oceanfront bungalow.
This is a classic Outer Banks beach bungalow designed for modest families who want being able to walk out the door and onto the beach instead of packing up the car and finding parking.
Although our protective natural dune prevents an ocean view from the porch, you can certainly hear the waves crashing and feel the breeze blowing.

Tips to get the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Sea Captain's Cottage Oceanfront has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
