Located in the heart of Kill Devil Hills, your family will be close to everything when you stay at this centrally-located oceanfront bungalow.
This is a classic Outer Banks beach bungalow designed for modest families who want being able to walk out the door and onto the beach instead of packing up the car and finding parking.
Although our protective natural dune prevents an ocean view from the porch, you can certainly hear the waves crashing and feel the breeze blowing.

Strategies for getting the best Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Kill Devil Hills rental home:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Book your Kill Devil Hills vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First, have your group commit to vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sea Captain's Cottage Oceanfront has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a specific Kill Devil Hills beach you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
