Tips to get the best Kill Devil Hills rental experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in Kill Devil Hills. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and choosing the perfectvacation home:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Treehouse OBX. Cozy cottage in family\/pet-friendly neighborhood. Close to sound. has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's an individual Kill Devil Hills destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Have a great stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
