Tricks and tips to get the best Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Reserve your rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing the best Kill Devil Hills rental:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Treehouse OBX. Cozy cottage in family\/pet-friendly neighborhood. Close to sound. has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is optimal for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
