Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Kill Devil Thrills- OBX relaxing get away has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If not, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Kill Devil Hills destination you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
