Strategies for getting the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Kill Devil Hills area. To find the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Kill Devil Hills restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the best vacation home in Kill Devil Hills:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. BB20 Steel Magnolia * Pool\/Lazy River\/Splash Pad has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
