Two Shipwrecks are Just Offshore. Great snorkeling. Walk to the beach in 3 mins..
3 MINUTE WALK TO THE BEACH!! Our home is named “PADI-SHACK” after the Professional Association of Diving Instructors...the owners are avid scuba divers and we appreciate to share our experiences with our guests. Our guests often like to go out to the shipwreck with us and we savor being "tour guides". And, we have MANY friends that we have acquired over the years who are here for sizable parts of the summer. You'll be welcomed into the "family"....and YOU WILL LOVE IT.
Padi-Shack has three bedrooms, two baths, and a screened in porch just off the kitchen. There are ocean vistas from the upper decks, and there is a impressive ground level deck with patio furnishings and an OBX style swing. The owners don’t live far away and we will do anything we can to make this your best vacation EVER!
PLEASE NOTE...we do not supply linens or paper products. A full week (Saturday to Saturday) is required during prime time rental periods. Off season check-ins and visits are
very flexible, requiring a minimum of only 2 nights!

How to book the best Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summer months are high season in Kill Devil Hills. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Kill Devil Hills vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Snorkel A Shipwreck...Two Ships Are On The Bottom Just Off The Beach!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your trip.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
