3 MINUTE WALK TO THE BEACH!! Our home is named “PADI-SHACK” after the Professional Association of Diving Instructors...the owners are avid scuba divers and we adore to share our experiences with our guests. Our guests often like to go out to the shipwreck with us and we savor being "tour guides". And, we have MANY friends that we have acquired over the years who are here for enormous parts of the summer. You'll be welcomed into the "family"....and YOU WILL LOVE IT.
Padi-Shack has three bedrooms, two baths, and a screened in porch just off the kitchen. There are ocean vistas from the upper decks, and there is a gorgeous ground level deck with patio furnishings and an OBX style swing. The owners don’t live far away and we will do anything we can to make this your best vacation EVER!
PLEASE NOTE...we do not supply linens or paper products. A full week (Saturday to Saturday) is required during prime time rental periods. Off season check-ins and visits are

How to find the best Kill Devil Hills vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Kill Devil Hills restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental home:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Snorkel A Shipwreck...Two Ships Are On The Bottom Just Off The Beach!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Kill Devil Hills destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
Know before you go:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
