Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book a perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation home:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. This cozy oceanfront property is full of the \"Old Nags Head\" charm has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the host before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
