Kill Devil Hills vacation rental home tips:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.
Planning and picking a perfectrental home:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Gorgeous pet-friendly soundfront home w\/ private pool & amazing sunset views! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
