The Neighborhood:
Centrally located between the highways in Kill Devil Hills. Walk to the beach access and many of KDH's best eateries!

Other Things to Note:
We are looking forward to hosting you but there are a few things you need to do in order to make sure that you, and all of our guests, are safe and that everybody can appreciate their respective stays! This message also includes other useful information about family pets, infant gear and parking:

1) Our properties are protected by Truvi. Please note that if you book a short-term rental (under 30 days), you will be contacted by Truvi directly to verify yourself. Please make sure this is finished prior to check-in.

2) Please confirm that you accept the following House Rules and Responsibilities on behalf of yourself and guests:

If you are booking a flat for over 30 days, you will be included with the standard tenant package as required under Virginia law, and be required to acknowledge receipt of the same.
The terms of our Agreement will remain as agreed to on the booking platform, and anything implied under North Carolina state law.

Please note that the building has ring cameras monitoring and recording the exterior and common areas of the building at all times. There are definitely no cameras on or in the interior of any unit.

If you are traveling with a pet please inform your host prior to arrival. Our pet fee is $75 per pet, per week for up to 6 weeks. If you are traveling for longer than 6 weeks please inquire about the Long Term pet fee. Make sure to check the listing details to see if your property is pet friendly.

Our properties require Sojourn to collect the name and picture of government-issued photo ID for each guest. Sojourn, our guests and our properties are protected by Truvi. Please note you will be contacted by Truvi directly to verify yourself. This verification step keeps everybody safe and provides additional insurance on your stay. Please make sure this is finished prior to check-in.

For the comfort of our guests and team members, smoking of any kind (marijuana, cigarettes, or vaping) is not allowed inside or within thirty (30) feet of our building, including outdoor spaces. Should our team or neighbors report the odor of smoke your card can be charged, including but not limited to a $500 smoking fee, and your security deposit will be forfeited. Sojourn will contact the booking service, terminate your stay and post the appropriate review.

Parties and events are stringently prohibited. All Sojourn homes are equipped with noise monitoring devices (decibel readers), your privacy is safe, these devices can not record or decipher what you are saying they are only for monitoring noise. Noise levels exceeding normal levels are grounds for ending your stay and are stringently enforced. In the event we are notified of any excess noise, music, gathering or events a Sojourn representative will respond and your reservation could be terminated without refund.

What NOT to Flush Down the Toilet or put down drains - If found that these cause plumbing issues Sojourn can and will charge the guest.

* Cooking Grease/Food/Coffee grinds should never be poured down any drain, period.
* Feminine Products. Tampons and other feminine hygiene products are not supposed to be flushed down the toilet.
* Infant Wipes/Wet Wipes/Cleaning Pads
* Dental Floss
* Q-tips/Cotton Balls
* Diapers
* Pills
* Paper Towels/Tissues or excess toilet paper

3) We are happy to provide both a Pack and Play and/or high chair. These must be reserved in advance and a $25 rental fee will be charged.

4) There may be times where the home needs unexpected, or scheduled preventative maintenance. While we do our best not to interrupt your stay with us, sometimes this cannot be avoided thus Sojourn reserves the right to gain access to the properties at any time, after providing our guests with 24 hour written notice.

5) This home has a storage room which has bicycles, an additional refrigerator / freezer, various toys like cornhole, giant Jenga, beach toys, and more. There is a beach cart, cooler, and chairs as well.

6) Please note that neither Sojourn nor the property owner shall be held liable for any loss, theft, damage, or injury to the car or any personal property therein, nor for any injury to the driver, passengers, or any other person, arising out of or in connection with the use of the parking space. Any use of the parking space is at the sole risk of the car owner or driver. Neither Sojourn nor the owner guarantee the safety or security of any car parked in the parking space and disclaims any responsibility for any acts of theft, vandalism, or other criminal activity.

About the Area

Located in Kill Devil Hills, this vacation home is near the beach. Wright Brothers National Memorial and Seaside Art Gallery are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Destination Fun and OBX Laser Tag. Stop-N-Shop Beach Shop and Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Golf are also worth visiting.

When to visit Kill Devil Hills & When to reserve a rental home:

  • To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills area magazine upon checking in.   • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
