Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Summer is high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Reserve your Kill Devil Hills rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your family agree to dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Seas the Day -- Oceanfront Condo!!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your family.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
