Tips and Tricks to get the best Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Kill Devil Hills area. To get the best rental within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best rental in the Kill Devil Hills area:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. SCR1B Dutch's Place * Oceanfront has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
