Finding the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- To get the best value, consider changing your family's Kill Devil Hills vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Oceanfront 3 Bedroom Condo at Golden Strand E2 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
