Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Kill Devil Hills rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the best vacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Ocean Views at Cochran’s Corner! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
