Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Kill Devil Hills restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and pick your prefectvacation home:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 3 Br\/2Ba Outer Banks Beach Club, Oceanside, 2nd Floor Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your group.
- If there's a certain Kill Devil Hills destination you love, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
