Booking the best Kill Devil Hills rental experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. OBX NEW WATERFRONT DESIGNER HOME WITH DOCK. GORGEOUS AND COMFY INSIDE AND OUT! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
