Tricks and tips for getting the perfect rental experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Kill Devil Hills. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Planning and choosing the rightrental:

  • Select your vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Enjoy Relaxing Stay in Quiet Kill Devil Hills Neighborhood has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a specific Kill Devil Hills attraction you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
