Tricks and tips to get the best Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Find your best deal:
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your Kill Devil Hills rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental in the Kill Devil Hills area:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Oceanside, 3 minute walk to the beach, hot tub, screened deck and rooftop deck. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- If there's a specific Kill Devil Hills destination you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
