Welcome to "Saltwater Sandcastle". This beach home getaway is located in the heart of Kill Devil Hills on the west side in a peaceful residential neighborhood - one half mile from the beach and just over half a mile from the soundside walking trails of Nags Head Woods and the Nature Conservancy. Savor days on the beach, evening sunset hikes to the sound, and your very own private backyard pool for times you just want to hang out at home base. And we are dog friendly so no need to leave your furry family member at home.
Appreciate a home away from home at this centrally located bungalow in the heart of Kill Devil Hills but tucked back in a peaceful, residential west side neighborhood. We are nearly equally distant from the soundside walking trails of Nags Head Woods and the beach, and within a few mins. to a variety of local attractions, eateries and shopping. Walk, bicycle, drive or even rent a golf cart to tool around. For down time and days you need a break from the hordes of the beach, appreciate the privacy of our tree lined, completely fenced in backyard with a brand new private pool. Everything in the home has been charmingly refreshed with comfortable modern touches. And, no need to leave Fido behind since we are dog friendly for up to two dogs.

The minimum age to rent is 25. ABSOLUTELY no events or overnight outside guests will be allowed. You will be asked to leave immediately and will not receive a refund of any kind.
Please do not park in the yard or on the street. Parking is only allowed in the driveway.
This is a dog friendly rental. While we and our cleaners are as thorough as possible, If you have pet allergies this listing may not be suitable for you.
Dogs only - max. of 2 dogs allowed. Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring your dog and add them to your guest count in order for the pet fee to be charged. Dogs must be home-trained, friendly (in case we need to access the home), up to date on flea meds and shots, and well-socialized. Dogs are not to be left alone unattended in the yard (ever) or in the home uncrated for extended periods of time. Be sure to pick up after your dog in all areas and keep your dog off the furnishings. If you have a "shedding" type breed, clean-up also means hair within reason. Failure to do so or any damage from your dog will result in an additional fee.
Please note that this is a vacation rental and not a hotel. (We appreciate and savor our guests and really mean that in the absolute nicest way!) You will need to roll trash carts out for trash pickup, do your dishes, etc., and basically leave the home reasonably as you found it.
If you use the grille please clean it before departure for the next guests. Our cleaners do not clean grilles. If you use the last of the propane in one of the tanks, please let us know or replace it.
If you break something please replace it or let us know ahead of time so that we can be proactive for the next guests. We know accidents happen - just help us out!
We provide one set of bath towels per expected guest. We do not provide beach or pool towels.
We provide the first roll of toilet paper per bathroom and one roll of paper towels. Additional needs are the guests' responsibility.
We are your neighbors and live just a couple of miles away. We are super laid back but expect that you will respect our space and the rules.
You will be asked to sign a simple rental agreement and provide a copy of government issued ID as a condition of booking.
About the Area
Located in Kill Devil Hills, this vacation home is by the sea. Destination Fun and OBX Laser Tag are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those looking for area attractions can visit Stop-N-Shop Beach Shop and Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Golf. Paradise Fun Park and Children at Play Museum are also worth visiting.

Sticking to a spending plan:
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer time is high season in Kill Devil Hills. To find the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Kill Devil Hills restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
