Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- To find the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Kill Devil Hills restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Hot Tub, 4 bdrm cottage, short walk to beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
