When the sun begins to set, move upstairs to the deck to take in a pretty view of the illuminated evening sky.
Inside, the living spaces are bright, new, and uncluttered, with central air conditioning and complimentary WiFi running throughout. How to find the best Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. New, dog-friendly home with deck & partial sound view - walk to sound has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
