Kill Devil Hills vacation rental tips:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Booking your Kill Devil Hills vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing a perfectrental home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. CNU At The Beach: Bonus Room
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
During your stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
