Strategies to get the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your Kill Devil Hills vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectrental:
- First, have your group select a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Barefoot By The Bay: Close to Beach\/Fishing Pier has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If there's a certain Kill Devil Hills beach you are enamored with, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
