Tips to get the best Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the perfect rental home in Kill Devil Hills:
- Start by having your family select the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Waterfront Harbor Home, Sunset Views, Fireplace, Private dock and Boat Slip has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. text the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
