Strategies to get the very best Kill Devil Hills rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Kill Devil Hills. Booking your Kill Devil Hills vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the best rental home in the Kill Devil Hills area:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Waterfront Harbor Home, Sunset Views, Fireplace, Private dock and Boat Slip has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
