Tricks and tips to get the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation home experience:
Getting the best value:
- To get the best vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Kill Devil Hills restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose the bestrental:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Bay Dream Believer: Soundfront
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a specific Kill Devil Hills attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
Have a great stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
