Our top Rental home tips:
Find your perfect rental:
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the perfect rental in Kill Devil Hills:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Steps from the Avalon Beach and Pier has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
