Tricks and tips to get the best Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer months are high season in Kill Devil Hills. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to date ranges and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. SoundNSurf has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
