Tricks and tips to get the best Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Kill Devil Hills. Booking your Kill Devil Hills vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book a perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation home:
- To start, have your group commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Rare Historic Beach Box on quiet street in heart of KDH! 2 min walk to beach! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Kill Devil Hills destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
