YOU MUST BE AGE 26 OR OLDER TO RENT THIS COTTAGE. You will need to provide a copy of your Driver's License or some other form of photo ID showing your birthdate. And, fill out and sign a paper rental contract agreement.
No Animals. No smoking/vaping indoors. No illegal drug use.
Sleeps six (6) adults comfortably. Two (2) cots are available for your use for kids or adults weighing 100 pounds or less. See additional info in the bedroom descriptions.
For the Summer months, (early June - late August), this is a Sunday to Sunday (7 nighttime minimum) rental, unless approved by owners.
September - May is a 3 nighttime minimum stay, check-in and check-out on any day, unless approved by owners.
QUESTIONS?: Near the blue "Check Availability" icon there is a sentence that says, "Contact Host". Click on that sentence to send us your questions and we will respond within 24 hours, (usually within an hour or two).
PROVIDED IN THE RENTAL:
Bed linens, bath, hand and face towels, kitchen dish cloth and drying towels, day-to-day cleaning supplies for your use and the home cleaning after you check-out (that's over a $170.00 value). NO HIDDEN FEES! (However, there are taxes and this website charges a service fee that we do not receive and have no control over the amount they charge).
CONTACTLESS CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT:
We have CONTACTLESS check-in and check-out. NO KEYS to keep up with or coordinating pick-up or drop-off appointments. If you want to check-in late --- no worries! We provide a door code before your check-in date so come as late as you need to. And, at the end of your stay, since there are no keys to return to us you can leave as early as you'd like. Simply close the door all the way and press the lock emblem in the center of the key pad.
CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT TIMES:
Check-in is at 4:00 pm (EST) on the date of your arrival and check-out is at 10:00 am (EST) on the date of your departure.
PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
This comfortable "TURTLE SHELL" Beach Cottage is bright and cheerfully decorated with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, (1 bathroom upstairs & 1 bathroom downstairs) and an outside shower and an enclosed garage as well as a heated/air conditioned laundry room. It is located in the heart of the Outer Banks between the highways (Beach Rd-Hwy 12 and the By-Pass Hwy 158) in Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948, close to the Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills. There are a couple of businesses close by. The “Turtle Shell” is great for a single person, couple, modest family or modest group (up to 6 adults).
CEILING FANS & CENTRAL HEAT/AIR CONTIONING:
Throughout the bungalow there are ceiling fans in all bedrooms, living room, dining and kitchen as well as CENTRAL heat and air conditioning in all living spaces.
KITCHEN - FULLY EQUIPPED:
Flat top stove with oven, kitchen island, dishwasher, microwave, air fryer/toaster oven combo, Keurig coffee brewer and a standard coffee brewer. Totally equipped with pots, pans, lids, cookie sheet and pizza pans, various size baking pans and casserole dishes, mixing/serving bowls, hand mixer, blender, colanders/strainers, measuring cups, measuring spoons, wine bottle opener, coffee bean grinder, electric can opener, gripper jar lid opener, plenty of drink glasses, mugs, plates, bowls, silverware for eating/serving/mixing/cutting/peeling/chopping, food themometer, food storage containers for leftovers, etc.
DINING AREA:
Dining table with 6 chairs. TV trays available.
BEDROOMS (3):
The bungalow has 1 QUEEN bed (master), 1 QUEEN bed (2nd bedroom), 2 TWIN beds (3rd bedroom).
One (1) additional twin bed downstairs in laundry room as well as 2 folding cots (best for kids and modest adults) are available for your use (bring your own linens for the cots & additional twin bed in laundry room). The cots are light-weight and can be moved to any room you want to use them in. Please return them to the location in the laundry room before you leave to go home.
BATHROOMS (2 Full bathrooms and an OUTSIDE SHOWER):
Upstairs: Full bathroom access from the hall and from the master bedroom. Equipped with toilet, shower stall, sink/vanity and blow dryer. Handsoap.
Downstairs: Full bathroom equipped with toilet, tub/shower, sink & mirror. Also has washer/dryer, twin size bed, cozy chair and tall dresser. Handsoap.
WASHER & DRYER:
There is a heated/air conditioned full bathroom with tub/shower combo, toilet and tub sink underneath the bungalow (in the garage/recreation area) providing storage for your things as well. The WASHER & DRYER are located in this roomy area, as mentioned above.
RECREATION ROOM/GARAGE:
A full sized ping-pong table (can be folded for single player use) and picnic table is in garage for your enjoyment. Basketball goal outside!
There are 2 corn hole boards and 8 tossing bags for you & your family/friends to ENJOY! This can be played in the garage in the evenings or on rainy days. If you take it outside, please just remember to bring it in the garage when finished with your game.
FOR THE LITTLE ONES:
We have a booster seat with detachable food tray, an umbrella style stroller, a infant gate, and a pack-n-play bed for your little ones (you will need to bring your own sheets and blankie for the pack-n-play bed). Little Tikes toddler swing in the rec. room/garage area and toys.
CHARCOAL GRILL:
Giant capacity cooking surface. We have plenty of silverware and a meat themometer needed for grilling out.
BIKES:
One (1) men's 26" bicycle, one (1) ladies, 26" bicycle, (5) various size kid-sized bicycles. Various sized helmets available.
BEACH GEAR:
Beach gear includes: Two carts to haul your things to the beach, beach chairs, beach umbrella, body boards, cooler with pull handle & wheels, sun tanning mat, sand toys.
Please BRING your own beach towels.
COVERED OPEN PORCH/DECK:
Savor the porch with Swings and chairs after a day sunbathing/swimming at the beach. Great for morning sunrises and afternoon to evening shade.
PARKING:
The bungalow has PLENTY OF PARKING with a concrete drive. You are welcome to park on the grassy areas as well if needed. The garage has PLENTY OF SPACE to store your fishing and beach accessories, motorbikes, jetskis, golf cart, etc.
PRICES INCLUDE:
The rental, Spectrum TV, COMPLIMENTARY password secured WiFi & NETFLIX. A set of kitchen towels & dish cloth. One (1) set of bed linens for EACH bed, (2 queen & 2 twins), 6 sets of bath towels (enough for 6 people), the cleaning at the end of your stay. Use of two cots (for kids or modest adults), but bring your own sheets for the cots. A Pack-n-Play is supplied but you will need to bring your own sheets, blankie and towel for your little one.
BEACH ACCESS:
Stop sign at Wrightsville Blvd takes you to E. Eighth (8th) Street that is an simple 4 -5 min. walk to DIRECT PUBLIC ACCESS & BOARDWALK TO THE BEACH. The other end of the STREET DEAD ENDS, making for fun walks without excessive traffic.
BEACH TOWELS:
We DO NOT provide beach towels so please bring your own or purchase some in the Outer Banks.
WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE:
The BEACH, of course! Numerous eateries like The Flying Fish, Mama Kwan’s, Dare Devil Pizza, Pizza Pie, Bob’s Grille, Miller’s, Five Guys, Wendy’s, McDonald’s and many more. Bowling alley, car repair stores, various stores for shopping are also within walking distance like Staples, TJ Maxx, Ben Franklin Souvenir Shop, Dollar Tree, Harris Teeter Grocery Store, Thrift store, The Christmas Mouse, Beach Units (for kayaks, surf boards, paddle boards etc.) are only 2-10 mins. away walking.
CHECK OUT PROCEDURES:
Before leaving please do the following;
Windows: closed and locked
Blinds & Shades: Lower and close all blinds and all shades.
Towels: Put all bath linens in the laundry bags or baskets included.
Sheets: Take all sheets off beds and put in the laundry bags or baskets supplied.
Kitchen: Wash/dry and put away all dishes, pots and pans, etc. Put back where they were originally, in the appropriate cabinets.
Trash: Empty all trash cans inside the home and put in the outside black trash bin located by the steps and side garage door.
If you are at the bungalow on Wednesdays or Sundays take the outside big black rolling trash bin to end of driveway. Trash is picked up Thursdays and Mondays (April - Oct). Trash pick up is on Monday's only during the months of Nov - March. Neighbors or next guests will bring it back to the home.
Fridge: Clean out refrigerator/freezer. Take all of your opened food with you or throw it away.
AC/Heat: Put AC on 75 degrees in Summer months and heat on 55 degrees in Winter months before you leave to go home or if you are going to be gone for long periods of time.
Furnishings: If you move any furnishings please return it to its proper place as you found it when you arrived.
Garage: Put away everything in it's proper place as you found it when you arrived.
Make sure garage doors are closed and locked. Slide the handles making sure they go into the slots of the garage door frame. Insert short pins/rods in holes of the handle bars holes.
Grille: Place COLD grille coals (not hot) in a trash bag and into the Big black trash bin.
Double check to make sure ALL doors and windows are closed and locked. We are not responsible for lost or stolen property.
DAMAGES:
There is a damage deposit but is not charged to your credit card unless after housekeeping checks out the bungalow to be sure nothing is damaged or missing.
You are responsible for damaged or missing items. Please report to us and send photos to us of any damages you notice or have caused. We will discuss reimbursement. The cleaning company will clean and inspect the property after your departure. Your credit card will only be charged after fair market replacement costs and/or repairs have been determined.
