How to get the best Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Kill Devil Hills. To get the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Kill Devil Hills attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the best rental:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Obx Pelican's Paradise - Pool & Soundfront! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a specific Kill Devil Hills destination you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
