Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental value:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Oceanside 2 Bedroom Condo at Golden Strand D3 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective.
