Rental booking tips:
When to book a Kill Devil Hills rental home & When to go:
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick the bestrental home:
- Select dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. COCO'S COTTAGE - LOCATION & PUPS !!!!!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
