Tips to get the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer is high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. Reserve your Kill Devil Hills vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your family decide on trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. The Great Beach Retreat - Summer Dates Open 2024 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
