How to find the best Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Find your best deal:
- Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Kill Devil Hills rental:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Ocean View- 5 min Walk to Beach, Volleyball has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Kill Devil Hills destination you love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Tips for a great stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
