Tricks and tips to get the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Flamingo Nest: Pool
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Have a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
