Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Get the best value:
- To get the best value, consider changing your family's Kill Devil Hills vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and picking a perfect Kill Devil Hills rental:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Broadbay Getaway Your Next Best Vacation Ever has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a specific Kill Devil Hills beach you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
