Tricks and tips to get the perfect Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose the best vacation home in the Kill Devil Hills area:
- To start, have your group agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Broadbay Getaway Your Next Best Vacation Ever has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a certain Kill Devil Hills destination you simply love, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
