How to book the best Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your family select dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Endless Summer KDH has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If not, call the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
