Strategies to get the best Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the best vacation rental in Kill Devil Hills:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Bright 3 bedroom unit-Close to beach and shops-Bikes included has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
