Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Getting the best value:
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Kill Devil Hills attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect vacation home:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beautiful vacation duplex close to beach w\/WiFi, backyard, private hot tub, & AC has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, contact the host before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Know before you go:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
