About this Property

Three bedroom, two bath home located in the heart of Kill Devil Hills! Saturday check-in/check-out. This home is our little sanctuary on the sound side of the OBX. A 2 min. drive to the beach! From rocking chairs on the front porch to outdoor furnishings and a swing downstairs on the carport area, there's room for everybody to find their own little corner for solitude or gather together for a homestyle happy hour.

We installed brand new floor throughout the home in 2022, eliminating all of the carpet on the main level. It looks and feels great!

There are 2 beach chairs and numerous body boards/skim boards available for use during your stay.

Please read rules for our home rental before reserving. We do require a minimum age of 25 to rent. We do require an ID check. We require the person renting our home be present in our home for the duration of the rental period. (I.e. Parents reserving our home on behalf of underage kids and not being present will result in cancellation of reservation. This can result in removal from our home if discovered during the rental period and there will be no refunds issued.)

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:

When to visit Kill Devil Hills & When to reserve a Kill Devil Hills rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. The Sound Castle has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
