Tips and Tricks to get the very best Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- To get the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book yourrental home:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Summer Lovin 2 Bedroom Condo at Golden Strand has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. message the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
