Kill Devil Hills vacation rental home tips:
Getting the best value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Kill Devil Hills area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Shore house made for socializing and family. Equally between the beach and bay! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
