Tips and Tricks to get the very best Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer months are high season in Kill Devil Hills. Reserve your Kill Devil Hills rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First, have your group choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. K1208 Going to Carolina. Oceanfront, Pool, Hot Tub, Pool Table, Theater has 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
