Our top Kill Devil Hills vacation rental home tips:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Kill Devil Hills restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. K1208 Going to Carolina. Oceanfront, Pool, Hot Tub, Pool Table, Theater has 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before booking your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your group.
- If there's a particular Kill Devil Hills attraction you love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
