Strategies for getting the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Kill Devil Hills rental home:
- Book your Kill Devil Hills rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- To start, have your group choose dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. A Great Bargin, Pet Friendly. Two & half blocks from the beach. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
