Tricks and tips to get the optimal Kill Devil Hills vacation property experience:
Getting the best value:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Kill Devil Hills area. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Kill Devil Hills restaurants and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect rental home in Kill Devil Hills:
- Start by having your group select dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 5540 Pointe' of View KDH * Canalfront has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
