Ideal for a charming hideaway or a modest family, this 2-bedroom, 1-bath vacation home has everything you need to relax and appreciate everything the Outer Banks has to offer.
When you walk through the front door of this open floorplan, you will be greeted by modern furnishings with a retro charm. Parlor on the couch or one of the two upsized armchairs. Across from the living area is where you will find the dining area tucked away. It features a round table with seating for 4. The well-appointed kitchen is located on the other side of the living area. It features all of the necessities for preparing coastal cuisine and now includes a dishwasher and countertop ice maker for calming evenings with a cool drink or the ideal reprieve on a warm summer day. A buffet table offers additional kitchen storage and is also where you will find silverware, plates, retro drinkware, a Keurig and more. When it's time to retire, both bedrooms can be found across from the kitchen. One bedroom features a queen bed with a TV; the other bedroom features a full bed. Both rooms have a closet to store all of your beach clothes! The full bathroom with a shower/tub combo is located off of the kitchen as well.
Step outside onto the deck and relax on the outdoor loveseat while you soak in the sunshine and salt air. Go downstairs and head to the enormous backyard and you'll find a cavernous outdoor shower - ideal for rinsing off the sand after a long day on the beach. Locals Tip: Bring your bicycles and take a ride in the evening and witness the most spectacular sunsets around!

A boat ramp access is also located close by for visitors who want to take to the water for a day of sailing, fishing, or crabbing.
One mile away you'll find a Food Lion and a Publix Supermarket for all your grocery needs, and the Wright Brothers National Memorial where you'll learn about the important role the Outer Banks played in aviation history. Strategies to get the perfect Kill Devil Hills rental home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Booking your Kill Devil Hills vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfectrental home:
- To start, have your group agree to trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 5041 The Captains Quarters *1 Block to Boat Access has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kill Devil Hills rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Kill Devil Hills destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
