Getting the best vacation property experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- In the Kill Devil Hills area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kill Devil Hills area travel guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kill Devil Hills area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing your prefect Kill Devil Hills rental:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. 5041 The Captains Quarters *1 Block to Boat Access has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
