How to book the best Kill Devil Hills rental experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kill Devil Hills vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. FFR304 Flight Club by First Flight Rentals has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
