Vacation rental tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are high season in Kill Devil Hills. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the perfect rental:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Welcoming Beach Cottage With Hot Tub & Fire pit, Just 1 ½ Blocks To The Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Kill Devil Hills attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your invoice.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. message the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
