Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
When to book a Kill Devil Hills rental & When to go:
- To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Kill Devil Hills vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Kill Devil Hills visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and choosing the best Kill Devil Hills vacation home:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Sunset Bay 5 Bedroom Home with a Jacuzzi Tub, Work-Out Room and Bayside Access! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
